How was your Experience?

The question used to be how was your stay, but today, in the hotel industry, it is more about the guest experience. For designers, it doesn't mean that we don't have to continue designing beautiful spaces but to pay more attention to our location, get really immersed with the local culture and find ways to connect the guest to their surroundings.

In some cases, the arrival experience may not be limited to the fresh glass of juice or cup of tea but, like in Inle Lake in Myanmar, having a local music band, made from the kitchen and housekeeping staff to welcome you, created a welcome experience to a welcome to remember.

Continuing In the same country, but in the ancient city of Bagan, we were offered by a hotel a horse ride to see the temples, to this day, it is one of memories I treasure the most about that trip.

You may think, ok, many of these things are not related to designers as the experiences are outside of the hotels, that is true, but we are responsible to work closely with operators and hotel owners to research how we can make the guest experience more memorable, sometimes, it is about proposing spaces that you don't normally find in a hotel. We stayed in Danang Intercontinental Hotel, Vietnam, a completely beautifully designed resort, with amazing rooms, restaurants and all the spaces you find in a resort, but what I remember the most, was the night when we went to their movie theater and we were the only two guest there....Movie night has never felt so good!!!
